Guest interactions

Dear guest,
Welcome!
We hope you enjoy your stay, please do not hesitate to report your observations/suggestions.
We mainly lives in Lucca (Tuscany) therefore it is unlikely that we meet. In case of need please contact Carla whom you met at the check in

On that regard I took the liberty to make a list of my favorite places to have lunch or dinner in the surroundings. There's a lot but not all of them are satisfactory in relation to quality/price. I repeat, it's a totally personal list, but if you don't know where to go it could help.

Have a nice stay.
Best wishes

Giulia and Carolina

Where to eat in the surroundings
Cheap
1. Himalaya – Viale Pasubio 12.
Indian food. Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Very cheap.
2. Mythos – Via Quadrio 23.
Very good and small greek street food (seats 20) with gyros and risogalo. I sugget grilled chicken, potatoes, onions, pita, tsatsiki and yogurt. Very busy at lunch time.
3. Paolino – Piazza XXV Aprile 7:
Half spit-roast cicken, side-dish and a drink € 7.50. And you won't be sick after lunch! Outdoor space available.
4. Wakaba – Piazzale Baiamonti 2:
a new spick-and-span Japanese offering, at least at midday, also a nice and rich main course with shushi and sashimi, a soup, green alghae, tofu and a fruit at €15 including tea. Outdoor available
5. Pizzeria di Porta Garibaldi – Corso Como 6.
A slice of Pizza Margherita (the baked high one crusted over underneath) at €5.50 for the standard portion. I like it very much and it's enough if you are not particularly hungry. Good choice of other dishes coming from the next door Cucina delle Langhe, a good Piedmontese restaurant. Good food, nice and pleasant atmosphere but the prices go up.
6. Rosmarino – Viale Pasubio 16.
Very simple and cheap vegetarian/vegan. Herb tea and bancha tea for free. Also takeaway.
7. Trattoria da Tommaso – Via de Castilla 20.
Familiar, open only at midday, offers local kitchen a bit roude but charming. You sit at the same table of other guests including workmen working in the area. Nowadays it's a white crow, mainly in that skyscrapers framework. If you don't want to queue up I suggest to go before 1pm
8. Panino Giusto – Corso Garibaldi 125.
The shop sign is revealing. Excellent and rich rolls of any kind served at the table up to 1am. My favorite ones are with Praga ham with paté and the slightly smoked salmon one. They serve also potatoes, salads and ice cream.

medium prices
9. Da Martino – Via Farini 8. Tuscan food, husband and wife, small place, excellent Florentine steak. I also like the true Milanese rib. They also serve pizza at his father's manner in the old days. Suggestion: go early at lunch or dinner because they have few sits
10. Da Franco – Via Farini 3.
Apulian food in front of Da Martino. Familiar, it offers a good choice of dishes including fish. Father in the kitchen and the sacrificed daughter flitting among the tables.
11. Eataly – Piazza XXV Aprile 10.
Other than being a food store with high quality Italian products, there are several good restaurants. I like the meat one (excellent “Frisona" from Piemonte) and the fish one (very fresh and appealing). Do not disdain the “Vino Libero", loose wine, very good and cheap.
12. Pescetto – Via Volta 9.
No frills and sort of do it yourself but fashionable. Here you have fresh fish and fresh fish and you chose it. Go at the opening time (12,30am and 7pm) otherwise the queue is guaranteed

Higher prices
13. Trattoria La Pesa – Viale Pasubio 10.
It offers good quality traditional local food in a very pleasant place. Special attention to the “risotto al salto" (risotto sauté). Have a look at the old beautiful weighing machine used at the time of town duty for those who passed Porta Comasina (nowadays Porta Garibaldi) mentioned in Manzoni's Promessi Sposi. In the thirties Ho Chi Minh lived on the upper floor. He also was chef in the restaurant. If you don't believe have a look at the tablet on the left side of the entrance.
14. Ratanà – Via de Castilla 28.
In a beautiful independent building dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, just adjacent to the new Porta Nuova futuristic urban settlement, a good Milanese chef (business partner of the comedian Albanese, who, by the way, has an apartment facing our courtyard) offers good local and some “reviewed" dishes . High quality season products. The place is nice. Booking advisable.

In addition
Vinario 11 – Via Confalonieri 11.
Here you don't eat but you can drink and take away either very good and selected loose wine or bottles. In this small and cozy place you can meet my cousin Valeria who will be happy to offer you a tipple and to give you any information you might need.
Opening time Thursday, Friday and Saturday up to 10pm, Tuesday and Wednesday up to 8pm, Sunday and Monday closed
